Texas Fourth of July BBQ Favorites

Calling all grill masters and BBQ Moms and Dads - it’s barbeque time! July Fourth is approaching fast, and you’ll want your guests to leave with nothing but compliments and full stomachs.

At Goode Co. Shop, we’ve put together this MUST-HAVE guide on all things Texas BBQ for this fourth of July. So, prep your grocery list because it’s time to get planning.

Meat Recipes for Your Texas Fourth of July BBQ

Smoked Brisket

Is there anything more Texan than a mesquite smoked brisket? We’re talking 8-10 lbs sized ones from our shop.. Using the finest cuts of USDA beef, you’ll want to ensure your brisket has been slow-smoked for hours before you get your hands on it.

Then it’s pretty simple:

  • Preheat your grill or oven.
  • Use two pieces of foil, each around 36” in length, and place them in a pan forming an “x”.
  • Remove the brisket from the package and place it in the center of the foil.
  • Fold up the sides and pour 1/2 cup of water on top of the brisket.
  • Seal the foil in a “tent-like” fashion, leaving room between the meat and the foil.
  • Cook for 8 minutes per pound or until the internal meat temperature reaches 140˚F in the thickest area.
  • Do not overheat - don’t worry, the brisket is already cooked.
  • Remove your brisket from the heat and keep it wrapped in foil for around 15 minutes.
  • Ensure resting time is followed, as it will make your brisket easier to trim and slice!

Then, serve it with some delicious sauce such as Goode Co. Shop’s original barbeque sauce. You can use any leftovers for the next day, such as in some burgers!

Jalapeño Pork Sausage

Our sausages in the south are better than the rest, because they’re full of spice and long-standing traditions.

We recommend getting your hands on some fiery Jalapeño sausage links that have been ground, stuffed, and smoked by hand here in Texas. You can even add some variety with old-school Texan-Czech style sausages from Goode Co. Shop.

  • Throw the sausages on the grill.
  • Cook them and burn the outside to taste.
  • Smother them in gorgeous Texan barbeque sauces.
  • Serve with some Jalapeño cheese bread.

Ribs That Fall Off the Bone

We don’t accept a Texas Fourth of July BBQ with Ribs if they don’t fall off the bone with ease. Our meaty and extra juicy ribs are as good as you’ll find anywhere in the country and will please even those who aren’t usually big rib fans. We use hand-seasoned in-house rubs and smoke them until tender.

Here’s how you can prep it in your oven:

  • Thaw your ribs for 8-12 hours in the refrigerator.
  • Place each rack on the foil about 36” in length.
  • Fold up the sides and seal in a tent-like fashion, so there’s room between the meat and foil.
  • Heat it for around 1 hour.
  • Let it stand in the foil for 10-15 minutes.
  • Cut between the bones to separate the ribs from the rack.
  • Serve with delicious Goode Co. Shop barbeque sauces!

Must-Have Sides for a Texas Fourth of July BBQ

American Potato Salad

Good old home potato salad is a hit on a Fourth of July BBQ menu and gives that nostalgic taste of family memories. It’s very simple to make and is perfect for a summer's day.

Jalapeno Cheese Bread

Found in our Texas BBQ gift boxes, our Homemade Jalapeño Cheese Bread is a must-have side for classic Texan meats and goes well with BBQ sauce. Tangy and spicy, it’s always a crowd pleaser.

Grilled Corn on the Cob

Grilled corn with a little butter, salt, and pepper on the BBQ is a tender and sweet side that suits every July Fourth BBQ. If you want to mix it up, you can wrap the corn in bacon.

Cheesecake Flag Cake

To be honest, you can decorate any dessert like this, but it works very well with a vanilla cheesecake. The idea is, you create our iconic stars and stripes design with fresh blueberries and strawberries upon the surface of the desert. It’s a fun way to get the kids involved with BBQ prep, too.

Refried Beans

Make that Texas Fourth of July BBQ menu southern by refrying some beans. They can be a side or served in a tortilla to form a bean burrito. Pinto beans are the way to go.

Smooth Sweet Iced Tea

A classic Southern drink perfect for a hot July 4th. While we recommend a crate of beer for adults, this is a non-alcoholic option for those who want pure refreshment throughout the day.

Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs put a slightly fancy twist on things, with a perfect combination of sweet and acid. Simply put, you’ll boil an egg, scoop out the yolk, and replace it with mayonnaise, mustard, and paprika.

Southern Coleslaw

Sweet, tangy, healthy, and refreshing. Southern Coleslaw has been loved for generations and is distinctly American. It also really complements the flavors of rich meats like brisket or ribs.

Fruit Salad

Fruit salad never has leftovers. The longer those fruits sit, the more the juices soak up, and it’s a salvation on a hot day following all the meat.

Pecan Pies

At Goode Co. Shop, we’ve been serving up Texan-style Pecan Pies since 1977 using our grandmother’s recipe. Made with fresh farm eggs and all-natural Texan pecans, you won’t taste a gooier pecan pie than this! It’s the perfect dessert.
